Sounds of Downtown Music Series

Live music in Downtown Oregon City continues street side on Friday Sept 3rd.

Downtown Oregon City’s live music series called the Sounds of Downtown continues on the First Friday of the month. The next street side music jam will be on September 3rd. This event will feature that Latin sounds of Pangea at one end of Main Street as well as duo Tiffany Carlson and Eddie Parente at the other end of Main Street’s historic core.

Tiffany Carlson is a local singer/songwriter who began her journey with music at a very early age.  She grew up as the youngest daughter in a musical family and they often sang together in various churches as she grew up.  Tiffany began a musical collaboration with singer/songwriter/producer,  Jim Walker, who recorded and produced her first album, Long Way Back, in 2006.   She followed this recording with her second solo album, FALL, in 2008, and an EP release last year from the duo, CarlsonRae.

“This young lady grabs you with her lyrics and keeps you there with her sound—a mixture of folk, country and blues.” Alathea Johnson, Moozikoo.com Staff.   Maverick magazine writes, “Tiffany proves herself to be not just a promising vocalist, but an intelligent and literate writer.”

Tiffany has been featured on The Back Porch Show, a nationally syndicated radio program, KUPL FM radio, and other local stations that support independent music.  She also was one of the featured artists on Christmas in the Northwest 10, which supports the children’s hospitals in the northwest.  While continuing to write music, Tiffany enjoys playing with various musicians in duo and trio formats around the local area.

“Tiffany is an amazing local musician,” said Lloyd Purdy, Executive Director of the non-profit Main Street Oregon City and producer of the Sounds of Downtown music series. “Featuring local creative talent is what events like this are about.”

On September 3rd, Tiffany will be joined at the art walk by exceptional violinist, Eddie Parente.  Originally from Jersey City New Jersey, Eddie has lived in Boston Massachusetts where he played in a Mexican Mariachi Band, while studying Classical Indian Music with Tabla master Shashi Nayak, attending Irish Traditional Music sessions, and playing in an International folk dance band.  Since moving to the Portland area he continues to play and record with a wide variety of musical groups, covering many styles.   Tiffany met Eddie when he played on her first CD, Long Way Back.   They reconnected earlier this year and have enjoyed playing together since.

The Sounds of Downtown music series is produced by the non-profit Main Street Oregon City and the Downtown Business Coalition with supported from an OCCIT grant.
