Old Sailboat on Willamette River shot just after midnight using a long exposure with 3,200 speed film. Reflections from lights in Downtown Oregon City create a cloud like feature on the river. The docklight focuses attention on the sailboat with a ghostly luminescence. Photo by Devin Conroy-Groves.
Midnight Shot of Arch Bridge by Devin Conroy-Groves
Oregon City Arch Bridge, shot at midnight looking east into downtown Oregon City. Composition includes predominant features of this gateway to downtown –the bridge and the municipal elevator in the background. Photo by Devin Conroy-Groves.
Conroy-Groves started focusing on industrial photography in March 2009. “I like to focus on life during the night,” said Conroy-Groves. Conroy-Groves’ photos capture the reality of night that most people miss.
The photo shown is one of a series of four that will be showcased on the downtown website throughout the next month. Devin’s work will be on display at Coffee Rush at 900 Main Street during First Friday – March 5th.

Here are some photos from Downtown Oregon City’s very first Art Walk event on October 2nd. This premier event was called “Arts in Action Fueled by Coffee Rush.” It was a great event that involved artists in and out of doors all along Main Street showcasing their artwork to the public. To continue this event in the upcoming rainy months, the First Friday Art Walk will move indoors. Business owners are hosting artists to display their art throughout their stores, and they invite you in to see your local artists in action!

Remember the Block Party that Garage 31 had in conjunction with The Oregon City Ice House on September 12th? It was a great success for Downtown Oregon City! Hundreds of folks came out to look at Garage 31′s airbrushed creations and get some free-eats from the Ice House. Here are some photos and a review from Garage 31′s owner, Jason Prouty:
Click the photos to see them enlarged.
“Our September 12th Open House event exceeded our expectations by far! Everything went very smooth from start to finish. There were at least 80 motorcycles lined up in the street and some hotrods as well. The few hundred people that came all got delicious food provided by the newly renovated Ice House Pub that was packed the entire afternoon. Iwata (the largest airbrush manufacturer) came out with all kinds of free goodies that we raffled off. It was great to see how many people came out to support us and check out all the custom painted bikes. The city was very supportive of our event and they were easy to work with in arranging the closure of our street. We’re happy to see all the great changes downtown and glad we could contribute with a positive event.” – Jason Prouty, owner and artist of Garage31
