Pareidolia and Anthropomorphism: Opening Reception

pareidolia-opening
Join us for the opening reception of “Pareidolia and Anthropomorphism,” an art show featuring a new body of work by UK-based artist LittleSwimminMachine (aka Francesca Loi). The artist has once again chosen to work with multiple materials, blending diverse textures, styles, and human features as a means of merging the “typical” with the strange. In doing this, she hopes to have conjured up stirrings of unease. All works were inspired by the artist’s fascination with the concept of Pareidolia: the human tendency to perceive faces in nature’s random patterns (even when none actually exist). Such a fascination led her to an exploration of the anthropomorphic – the attribution of human form and character to non-human entities – with the ultimate goal of blurring the boundary between reality and imagination.

The show debuts on November 8 and runs through November 29 at the Imperfecta Gallery. Join our opening reception on November 8 between 5 and 7pm for nibbles, drinks and music.
