For August the imperfecta art & design gallery presents a solo show featuring pottery artist Erin Redding.
The show opens on Saturday August 10, with a reception (5-7pm, with wine tastings by Corcilla Cellars), and runs through August 31. Gallery hours are 11am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday. The Gallery is at 117 6th street, Oregon City OR 97045 USA.
In this exhibit, Verdant Submerged, the artist explores themes related to nature and its power to take one elsewhere, with emphasis on “green forests” and the “abundance of water” around her home. In her own words: “When I hear water coming from waterfalls and rushing rivers everything else is washed away leaving me with a sense of serenity that is unparalleled. The strength of the ocean and crashing of water in the waves feeds me. For a moment I forget all my personal struggles and the stresses of surviving in this world that is created by humans, and the joy I get from the world created by nature makes me feel truly alive.”
Erin Redding’s work focuses on mimicking “some of the grace of nature” – from the pathways created by flowing water to how nature finds balance through adaptation and constant evolution. While her clay artworks leverage natural elements through embossing, the artist is careful in how elements are harvested, ensuring she only takes what she needs to leave marks on her art – yet not on her natural surroundings. Ferns, hortensias, fallen leaves, delicate flowers such as viola or dogwood petals are frequent themes in Erin Redding’s work as she focuses on capturing their beauty in the clay and helping them come alive with watered down underglaze or oxides.
All artworks will be on presale a couple weeks prior to the opening, to be then released in the online catalog on opening day. The gallery ships globally.
Attend the opening reception on August 10, 5-7pm, to meet the artist and enjoy wine pours by Corcilla Cellars.
