Modified Printing

Downtown Oregon City flourishes because of our amazing small businesses, many of which are women-owned! We recently learned more about Sarah Willett, owner of Modified Printing, and how they create for our community.

Growing up, Sarah didn’t consider herself to be creative because she couldn’t paint or draw, but she wanted a new adventure outside of her nursing career and purchased an established printing shop in SE Portland. She wanted to bring it to her hometown of Oregon City, and so, in 2018, she brought Modified Printing to Main Street, located at 916 Main Street Oregon City, OR 97045. 

Modified Printing offers an array of services, such as screen printing, embroidery, and custom graphic designing;  you can even start creating your own T-shirt or shop their current products on their website! Stop in and see them for your next custom designed item or to shop their in-store products. They have clothing, hats, accessories and more in stock with a wide selection of sizing.

Sarah has a passion for helping people, and every day something different challenges her to be creative and have fun with her clients. The best part of what she does is the contagious feeling of seeing the happiness and joy come from her clients.

She further mentions that “my most favorite part about our business is when a customer comes in feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what they want or even need, and that’s when we get to really help them get to where they want to be.”

GET TO KNOW SARAH

Sarah grew up in Oregon City and has lived here her entire life, never having another zip code. How cool is that?!  

Sarah started her nursing career in 2002, and when she isn’t working in her creative business, she is still practicing today. She’s a busy bee who enjoys life with her husband and their three beautiful daughters. 

Remodeling and home decorating are favorites of Sarah. She finds enjoyment in the outdoors, whether that’s planting flowers in her garden, going for long distance runs when the weather’s nice or playing on several indoor soccer teams. 

She loves to support the many local businesses in Oregon City, and you may catch her out with her girlfriends enjoying some of the local Oregon City Restaurants. 

Some of Sarah’s favorite places in the area are: “Bread & Butter because I love their home decor.  Pioneer Pizza because who doesn’t love their pizza!  Redland Cafe for breakfast definitely.  Kings Raven Winery for their bubbly Rose.”

Production is Sarah’s favorite aspect of her business because she loves to keep busy and has so much fun it is to see the final product come to life.

WHAT LESSON(S) HAVE YOU LEARNED THROUGH YOUR TIME AS A WOMAN IN BUSINESS?

“Balance is important…you can still be a mom & a wife and a business owner too.  Forgive yourself when you blur the lines too much because you will.”

She is motivated by accomplishment and being productive, and for the most part she tries to keep her focus on reaching whatever goal is in view. 

WHAT’S A PIECE OF ADVICE FOR OTHER ASPIRING WOMEN OR FOLKS WANTING TO START THEIR OWN BUSINESSES OR MAKE MONEY DOING SOMETHING THEY LOVE?

“It is a lot of hard work and long hours.  It is not an 8-5 type of job but more like a 24/7.  It is one of the most rewarding things to grow something and watch it bloom. You will stumble and make mistakes but that only makes you stronger.“

2020 became a year of struggle for many people and businesses, and Modified was no exception to that and growing through the COVID pandemic had its challenges. Sarah learned that worrying and stressing was unproductive to her and her business, and was humbled by the support of her employees and customers through this past year. 


“Community is very important to me and I can’t wait until we can be back to regular events again so I can see everyone.”

Modified Printing is heavily involved in the community and loves to hold events that bring people and businesses together.
