Women in Business Feature

The Vintage Nest

Oregon City has many women-owned businesses, and there’s one on Main Street that’s hunting forgotten items to repurpose for new enjoyment. Read on to learn more about The Vintage Nest, a beautiful antique and vintage store on Main Street  by reaching out to co-owner Danielle Goode.

Read on to learn how they create small business opportunities for vendors and why so many people love getting lost inside The Vintage Nest.

Danielle, alongside Mari, opened The Vintage Nest in 2016 on Main Street. They loved the community feel of the businesses on Main Street and how close to the river and falls they were.

THE VINTAGE NEST

THE VINTAGE NEST is a local antique store filled beautifully to the ceilings with rustic farmhouse decor, repurposed furniture, hard to find vintage pieces, and more. The store is well organized, there’s a mixture of rustic and modern, and you’ll thoroughly enjoy going into each of the 19 vendor’s sections.

“We give old things new life and mix it with all styles.  There is no need to throw out pieces that others may want.  We search for pieces and turn them into functional and current styles.“ – Danielle

There are 19 vendors and volunteers who are passionate about bringing quality pieces to the community. Because of the diverse selection, you never know what you’ll find at The Vintage Nest when new pieces are being put out everyday.

When you shop at The Vintage Nest, you are choosing to support the dreams and passions of many people. “By joining together we have created an opportunity for 19 people to have a small business.  This allows people to make their dream come true without needing to figure out how to do it alone.”

They are open to shop inside, and check out their Facebook Page @VintageNest, or on Instagram @thevintagenestantiques to see new available pieces. They are located at 507 Main Street Oregon City, OR 97045

Customers are raving about The Vintage Nest, one saying:

“What a fun store!!! Go with time, because there is a lot to see and everything is displayed beautifully and organized in sections. The prices are real good too. I was impressed.”

ABOUT DANIELLE

Danielle’s been hunting for finds since she was 19 when she visited extended family in Ohio. They would travel all over Amish country, searching old barns and areas for unique pieces.

Having experienced taking their collections to the flea markets and setting up a booth, one day they decided to open up a location and bring others to join in on the adventure.

She loves to go on the hunt for one of a kind pieces, and has a passion for repurposing pieces back to new life.

Danielle appreciates the diverse landscape and activities that Oregon offers and enjoys taking advantage of that to refresh and get close with nature.

HOW DO YOU BALANCE ALL THE THINGS?

“You have to have a passion and love for what you do.  It is easy to balance things you love, you make time.”

People will tell you that you can’t do it.  Prove them wrong.

THROUGH THE PAST YEAR

“We have an amazing customer base.” – The Vintage Nest

It’s tough for small businesses to compete with online shopping when it goes straight to our door, but they have been thankful for their customers who keep up with their posts online, who choose to pick their finds up at the curb when they were closed during the pandemic.

They are now open and love that they can keep creating relationships with their customers, and enjoy being able to see them become inspired when they step into the store. You can touch, and see the quality of items and that is one thing you can’t can’t get online.
